About the report
The 'Unhealthy Investments' report discusses the case for divestment from the fossil fuel industry - ie. companies working in the extraction and production of coal, oil and gas - by the UK health sector, from a range of perspectives. This includes representative bodies such as the medical and nursing Royal Colleges, academic institutions working on medical and public health subjects, and health-focused charities and foundations. It is being published jointly by the UK-based health NGOs Medact, Healthy Planet UK, the Climate and Health Council, Medsin and the Centre for Sustainable Healthcare.
A launch event held in London on the evening of Tuesday February 3rd (register for free here) will bring together a panel of expert speakers to discuss whether organisations which work to improve health should continue to invest in fossil fuel companies, given the health impacts of air pollution from fossil fuels and the rising threats to health from climate change.
